Troubleshooting: Bubbles, Dust and Lifting Edges
Every screen protector problem comes down to one of three culprits: trapped air, trapped dust, or a lifting edge. Each has a distinct fix — and one of them means "start over". Here's the diagnostic.
Problem 1: Air bubbles after install
What it looks like: soft, movable bubbles with a dark ring, usually visible within the first hour.
Fix: press them toward the nearest edge with a fingertip or the edge of a card wrapped in the microfiber cloth. Most small air bubbles settle or vanish within 24–48 hours as the adhesive spreads. Patience works here — as long as there's no speck inside.
Problem 2: Dust bubble (the permanent one)
What it looks like: a small, perfectly round bubble with a visible dot at the center that won't move no matter how you press.
Fix: this needs a rescue operation. Lift the glass at the nearest corner (a fingernail, or the corner of the alignment frame), only as far as needed. Touch the dust sticker to the speck — on the glass and on the screen, it could be on either — then let the glass settle back and press. One clean rescue is invisible. Three rescues will trap more than you removed; if it fails twice, use a fresh protector.
Problem 3: Lifting edge
What it looks like: one corner or side refuses to sit flush; a visible seam collects dust.
Diagnosis: either the case is pushing it up (see the case-friendly guide), the edge caught debris before contact, or the protector sat slightly off the display edge.
Fix: press and hold the corner firmly for 30 seconds. If it lifts again immediately, check whether your case lip lands on the glass. If neither helps, the protector has lost adhesion at that edge — replace it, because dust will migrate inward within days.
When to give up gracefully
A protector with more rescue attempts than weeks of use is due for replacement. The Arctiqo Duo pack exists exactly for this: fresh glass in the drawer, 60-second install, problem solved.
